Again – I apologize to all the dedicated listeners of Beats From The East for not have the latest podcasts up as soon as the show is done with. 2009 has just been hectic since day one and with the new releases of some the best soundtracks out there as well as some new bhangra albums – its been hard to keep up. I have slowly caught up and have finally made some time to work out a good set for next few shows. The Pledge Drive
As you all can imagine the pledge drive this semester has been pretty wild. Radio 1190 has had a hard time getting in all the pledges we need to stay up and running. As of today i see that we are still short 1,825 watts left! which equates to $18,250 – so it has been pretty rough. But on the plus side – given the kind of economic situation we are all in we still managed to collect 3,175 watts ($31,750)!! Which covers majority of what we need – so hopefully the manager has a back up plan 
(I’m kidding – i know he does, but it definitely was a close shave this semester).
So again, THANKS TO ALL THAT PLEDGED!!! the love goes out to everyone who pledged from 1 Watt to 24! I know its really hard for some of you to scrape up the amount – given the limitation we had of giving out just one cd per show. The cd this semester went out at a 5 watt level and i really thought that making it MP3 based would make most sense as you get more bang for your buck! So I did my best with the compilation and I’m sure you are all gonna love it.
Very soon I’ll start posting up all the podcasts again – the month of semptember included
- one week of the pledge drive (probably not fun listening to)
- one week with a mix set (which is really hard for me to give away on a podcast – i hope you understand)
- one week with a previously recorded mixset (same situation as above)

Tripped over hard drive :(
In the excitement of getting ready to go live this Saturday – I managed to trip over my external hard drive @ the station …and the picture below should provide a semi-accurate description of what happened next…
Will try and look for a fix this week – there was a good 400GB worth of music (my entire collection!). Hopefully things get resolved this week. I apologize to everyone that tuned in last week and got 2 hours of pure arabic house music – thats the only thing that survived on my computer. Will have a playlist for the tracks that went on that day soon.
Thanks for being patient and hope that I find a quick fix this week – so that we continue to have an awesome show for you next week!

UPDATE:: We almost reached our goal – made 4200 watts / 5000

"Our Fall Marathon ended on October 6, just shy of the 5,000 watt goal
we had set for ourselves. That’s pretty amazing when you think about
all the gloomy financial news that hit just as we went on the air in
drive mode. Huge thanks to our staff and volunteers for their long
hours and dedication. As always, nobody’s pledge drive is as
entertaining and awe-inspiring as Radio 1190′s!
We also want to thank the local businesses and restaurants who
provided gift certificates and merchandise for premiums, and who fed
the volunteers who kept it going. And of course, monumental
